Just after some advice on protecting the surface of the sign once it’s done. @Don_McGuinness has suggested using a clear UV resistant varnish (the kind you put on cars). The only downside is it’s quite expensive - about $40/litre. Any other suggestions for more affordable options?
How much of it would you need?
though $40/litre is expensive is not unreasonable in small quantities.
I was unable to get the steel, as I didn’t know where to go, and what the agreed price etc was. my trailer is no longer at the space, so someone else will need to do it. Nadine or Karl, maybe post the details here?
Thanks for being there anyhow @buzz. I don’t have the details of what’s needed, am waiting on @rut4ger to let us/me know.
We need, 6 lengths of 25x25x2mm SHS. should be around $150.
ive got square bar from http://www.bitsofsteel.com.au/ before not the cheapest but they cut to size for transport
know anywyere better @rut4ger
Sorry thats also probably pretty useful information. Theres a Bluescope outlet down the road from the space Its a large distribution center, but they have a public counter on one side of the building. They often sell slightly rusty or bent cheaper. When I’ve been in there they haven’t been all that busy and have seemed fairly happy to answer stupid questions and help me find what I need. I believer they will also cut stuff to size for you although I’ve only ever gotten them to cut stuff in half for transport.
The business name is Metalcorp, their address is 920 Nudgee Rd. I rang and got a price on what we need. It’s $18.15/length. So $108.90. in total.
