24 hours of lemons

I’ve just read the rules, but its too late for me to make any good points.

I’m dead keen to participate.

I’m wondering how far we can push the definition of ‘car’. The $999 limit has quite a lot of exemptions so I’d say get the best motor/brakes/steering possible and strip literally everything else out of the thing. Of particular interest is the fact you can offset the cost of anything you sell off the original car…

This looks like a lot of fun, regardless of how fast the car goes haha. Have you heard of the Speeduino development board, its like an open source ECU, I think it might even be Australian too. Could be a appropriate HSBNE addition, especially with all this talk of turbos/SC.

Thats gangster as! I’ve googled looking for an arduino/open source ECU platform a few times before and never found anything. That looks fantastic!

I have a new and working ‘FRANKENSO’ open ecu from http://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

It was my intention to use the subaru engine together With this at some point, but never got there…

What about that car Sven wanted to put in a Derby a couple months ago?

That car is gone as there was no interest in it at all.

Ok, I got a free car. Its 1986ish Ford Lazer, white, hatchback.
It is even registered till end of the year.
Doesn’t start but cranks over. Some something easy fix problem.

If there is 3 or more people committing to doing it I take it.

Ahoy. If there is still interest I would be super keen, Im currently not a member however this is what made me wanna join even more. I certainly would be down to spend some hours wrenching on this project. Would love to get down and dirty in a project like this, these races have always been a passion of mine.

If we need another car as a backup plan. I have a 1989 5th Generation Celica SX that has been offered to me in running condition for fee of a case of cider.

Ill hopefully be down on the 5th for the next open night, I have emailed through the online form RE Membership and replied a few times so im willing to put my hat in the ring pending this.

Oh and happy New Years!

(I replied via email but it doesn’t seem to have shown up here)

Hey guys, I have a '92 Camry (some of the long-standing members may remember it) which is engine-wise still running fine, but as I barely drive it and there are a lot of small things wrong with it, I was thinking about selling it before the rego is up in February. There’s no way it would pass a roadworthy without spending much more than it’s worth on it, so I could really only sell it for parts. Which is kinda sad because as I said it still runs ok (suspension needs work, really) and inside it’s still quite fine - the tape deck still works!

So it sounds like this could be an interesting avenue… I had always wanted to drive it till it wouldn’t drive no more

It’s an auto, 2.0L V4 straight. Let me know if anyone wants anything to do with it.

Cheers
