Better desoldering

So we have a TMT-9000S soldering station and a bare-bones desoldering iron (stand + handpiece body). I use one of these TMT-9000S for soldering and desoldering at work and can confirm that they are good.

To restore this station to it’s former glory, we’ll need the following:
$120 DS-HPC-1 DESOLDER GUN HANDPIECE CABLE
$35 DS-AH-1 DESOLDER GUN AIR HOSE
$29 DS-CP-1 FILTER KIT FOR DS-KIT-1 DESOLDER H/PIECE

Total: $184

We will also need some desoldering tips. I’d recommend the 0.8 and 1.5mm standard tips.
Tips for the desoldering iron cost $49 each. This station also requires compressed air to generate a vacuum, so that will need to be plumed in.

This sounds good, it’s great to hear that there is still intrest in getting equipment stations setup.

I would recomend not spending too much money on fine tips though.
I feel they are more likely to get abused from people not changing to a bigger tip when needed.

I use ~1.0mm tips on my iron most of the time for fine work,
it works well if you use surface tension to help pull the solder to where it’s needed.

Cheers guys, I’ll add this to the next electronics cause meeting.

$184 for handpiece parts and a filter kit, though maybe we should get 2-3 of the filter kits? Make the budget for that section $250.

$150 to get 2x1mm tips and 1x1.5mm tip?

$50-60 for a small air compressor for use with it, like the one the laser cutter came with.
