Cause Meeting, 8:30pm 18th Dec (after general meeting)

This is the final meeting for the year. We really want you to come along and vote (or send in a proxy!) So we can utilise our budget and free time over the holidays to put some great work into the shop.

Financial Report

We have $3,156 in woodshop funds currently

Agenda

  1. I’ve lined us up a great deal with a sandpaper manufacturer to supply us bulk sandpaper for all our machines and hand sanding needs. It’s typically at least a third the cost of any other source I have found. We’re looking at an order containing:

    • 20x 150x1220 P120 Al Oxide Cloth Belt
    • 30x 305mm P120 Velcro Disc
    • 10x 610mm P120 Al Oxide Cloth Disc + 1L Disc Cement
    • 2x 79mm x 25m P120 Al Oxide Cloth Roll
    • 2x 79mm x 25m P240 Al Oxide Cloth Roll
    • 10x [6, 12, 16, 38, 50]mm x 150mm P120 Spindle Sleeves
    • Hand Sanding Rolls (TBD)

    This is a budget of $1200 , and should keep us in sandpaper consumables for 12+ months or more. If you would like a price breakdown, please come see me in person (I’m not allowed to disclose publicly)

  2. 12mm Plywood, I have a source on AA Marine 12mm Ply at $55 a sheet, It’s good quality stuff and have built a few things with it already. We want to set a budget to buy up to 10 sheets as a general building material, most of which will go to building the new Modular Mitre Station and Machine Stands. We are using 12mm as it can be doubled to make 1" where needed, but is otherwise a sufficient size.This is a budget of $600

  3. I’ve sourced us a nice Rigid Carbide 12" FTG table saw blade for joinery, it will be $320 AUD budget. (US based supplier). This will let us do DADO / Joinery work on the table saw.

  4. We’ve been thinking about a new Drill Press for the wood shop, at a $500 budget.

Many thanks to everyone putting proxy votes in. We are up to 7 so far, please keep them coming. At the moment quorum is 13 for woodshop so that leaves 5 others in either proxy votes or attendees. If you are definitely going to come in to the meeting maybe also pipe up so we have a rough idea of numbers. I’ll be there for sure :wink:
