Hi all,
I have a now 7-year old Onkyo TX-NR656 that has developed a short in the amp stage. It’s probably a cap or something solvable, but I decided to replace it because I want 120Hz video.
The unit fails the self-test upon startup with a short in the center channel. Someone with the right skills could probably diagnose it and fix it. It’s a perfectly fine Class-D AV receiver, and if anyone would like to take a shot at it, they can have it free.
Otherwise it’ll end up in the electronics recycling.
