Not everybody’s taste, but it’s a striking design. It did make me wonder whether a smaller version would be doable. I’ll have to do some research as to where I’d get the gourds from, but the thinking is for something that is about grapefruit-sized with 1" speakers… maybe a larger sub-woofer in the base.
Position the volume pot beneath the “eyes”, and a string of 20 LEDs hooked up to two LM3914s below that in an arc… feed the lot with a bluetooth module and you’d have a unique looking speaker.
As it happens, we’ve got tubes of LM3914s, so that isn’t a problem. Sourcing the other electronic bits shouldn’t be hard. If I can source the gourds, I might try making one. If we can source a few gourds, it might be worth a few of us making some.
There’s a place outside Toowoomba that has gourds for sale for arting and crafting with. I will see if I can recall the name at some point.
They also have a lovely selection of jewellery making/beading things, plus some lovely grounds to haave afternoon tea in
I know the one you mean @Keema! It’s called Danish Flower Art Complex. Might be worth giving them a call. I travel up that way every now and then, happy to help if they have some.
Yeah, there’s four places. There’s the Good Gourd, that’s on third. There’s Gourds-R-Us, that’s on third too. You got Gordy’s Gourd Garage. That’s on third. Chairman of the Gourd… Matter of fact, they’re all in the same complex; it’s the Gourd complex on third. In the Gourd District.
