Geek shirt #60: Uru: Online Ages Beyond MYST. This shirt was only released to those who completed an online ARG puzzle series over a decade ago. Which naturally includes me.
This may be my most unflattering photo yet, but it’s also a room that I haven’t photographed yet. Our hot water room/breaker room/tool store room. It’s kinda cramped in here, so this week’s shot is just a selfie.
Geek shirt #61: I AM BECOME DEATH. The Bluster Blaster is an arcade machine from Sam & Max. He’s a megalomaniac obsessed with destroying everything. Well, as much as an arcade machine can destroy. Cross him, and YOU WILL FALL.
Geek shirt #63:Hail to the king, baby. This replica singlet was only handed out to those who stood in line for 3 hours to play Duke Nukem Forever at its first playable demo, at PAX Prime 2010. And sure the game may have sucked - but after 12 years, at least it was finally released!
Last week someone questioned my strength. I proved it by carrying @crofty across our lobby and back. Thus I’m going a little overboard on the testosterone this week. Seconds after this photo was taken, I knocked this guy’s head off with the hammer in my hand (it was only just sitting on his shoulders).
Geek shirt #64: the post-apocalyptic costume I wore to Supanova Sydney, where I launched a product I’ve been developing with some friends - [Apocalypse Chow][1], a powdered meal in a bottle!
I’ve also been spending a lot of time lately working on the [laser cutter][2], making it faster, more powerful, safer, able to be used over a larger cutting bed, and easier to use. Thus the crazy goggles. Also, yay 64 shirts = 2^6 shirts! I’m such a geek.
Geek shirt #65: Uru: the ages beyond MYST. You might think this is the same shirt as #60… But look again! That one says ONLINE ages whereas this one says THE ages. These are completely different shirts, see? This one was only available during Mysterium 2003.
Geek shirt #66: a plain old boring green shirt? Not geeky, you say? Well that’s the shirt I wore in Ouroboros, a short film about time travel where I played a drugged-up hobo from the future. I think that counts, so nyah.
Speaking of time machine crashes, this is the damaged door from my DeLorean. It’s been replaced with a brand old one - 33 years old and never fitted to a car before.
The space has some buoys sitting in our back yard. They’re waiting until other stuff is ready, then they’ll become art pieces throughout the local precinct. Boy oh buoy.
Geek shirt #69: one more of my superhydrophobic shirts that cannot get wet. Also the electronics bench behind me is super duper handy and I spend way too long there.
HSBNE will be hosting a prop building workshop at OzComiCon Brisbane! In my right hand is a replica staff weapon from Stargate, cast from a screen-used original. We’ll be showing you how to do this, with some 3D printing thrown in for good measure. We’re also collecting donations so we can have a proper stall beyond just a single class - if you’re able to spare some money, or you know a business that would sponsor us (we’ll totally promote your wares in our stall for you), we’d love to hear from you. Get in contact with @Boo to sort things out.
Geek shirt #71: my crazy lookin’ body armour. It’s actually cheap Chinese motorcycle gear. I bought it a long time ago because it was a fantastic price for something that looked so cool. But it turns out that this is the same stuff they used in the TV show Terra Nova. So I guess it’s screen-accurate too?
In my hand is a little something something I’ve been working on in secret… A self-balancing electric unicycle! It’s like a Segway, but with only one wheel. This also fully meets all Australian legal requirements (that’s a big thing). We’re thinking about selling these through work, because I can make more for $500 each (the other really big thing!). If you’re interested, drop me a line.
It’s been a while since I posted these. I have a bit of a backlog. So let’s get back to it!
Geek shirt #73: Mount Bruce Venturer Unit… an old scout shirt from my old troop. I still had it lying around.
Geek shirt #75: Hendo Hoverboards. The technology of levitation via magnetic eddy currents interests me. Assuming they can make it not so deafeningly loud.
Geek shirt #76: Yarrr, Talk like a Pirate Day be here again! Me piratin’ outfit be on display this week, along with some insulation we plundered from the hardware store. This should help keep us comfortable when summer comes around and it’s hotter than a fur coat in the Caribbean.
Geek shirt #77: Wubba lubba dub dub! Rick from Rick and Morty, complete with 3D printed portal gun! Fun fact - it’s literally nothing but a shirt change from my Doc Brown costume.
Geek shirt #78: My Other Time Machine Is A DeLorean. Goes with my DeLorean’s bumper sticker that says “My Other Time Machine is a TARDIS”. And ALL HAIL THE BRAIN SLUG.
